Labour Law in the Commonwealth Caribbean by Deborah Thomas-Felix is a new publication that deals with subjects that are inherently germane to industrial relations.
The publication focuses on several subjects including 'Management Prerogative', 'Fixed Term Contracts', 'Lay-off', 'Retrenchment', 'Dismissals', 'Reinstatement' and 'Labour-supply Contracts' (also called, 'Labour-only Contracts'). It brings under one "umbrella" for examination, subjects that are critical for dealing with policies affecting the world of work, national development as well as long-term recovery and transformation following crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

Excellent Textbook and informative attendant Course.

Industrial Relations (IR) within the context of employment law, is a nuanced type of law. As such, this textbook is a definite necessity. This textbook is thorough in its analysis of the many issues which plague an employment relationship and it is an easy read. Thus, it definitely should form part of the library of all IR practitioners. Not to mention, the attendant IR course which followed this textbook. It was extremely informative and it expanded the discussions as regards popular IR issues. I highly recommend this textbook. It is an excellent tool in the practice of IR.
